Two Russian young ladies, age 12 and 11, have the world by the ears. They have written/concocted a song that grabs the listener much the same way that “Stayin’ Alive” did several generations ago. In fact, I’d bet a movie is on the way that will feature this song, just as “Saturday Night Fever” featured the Bee Gees’ song nearly 50 years ago. This new little tune has been played on YouTube over 50 million times since its release in October last year. The song is being sung all over the earth now, and I heartily congratulate the two young ladies for their accomplishment. I know I sure wasn’t writing hit tunes at age 11!
The two young ladies are Svetlana ‘Betsy’ Chertischeva, age 11, and Maria Yankovskaya, age 12.
Here is one “official” video (there are plenty more, including live performances and even one translated to English). Be sure to read the YouTube comments, which comprise much of the entertainment factor of this, er, catchy tune. Also, be aware that once you’ve heard the song—not even to the end, mind you—it’s gonna be with you FOREVER. You’ve been warned!
This version might stay up a while…from Russia. The others I’d posted were blocked by some fool who didn’t want the publicity. (Anus.)
Here’s another, if the above one goes away.
